No Book is Junk!

Take a look at your book collection.  What do you see?  What was the last book you read?  Where is it?  Did you purchase a digital copy?  How many of them have you read from cover to cover?

No book is junk.  There are outdated copies, but they still have value and can be used for something.  Remember your favorite book?  Think someone else would enjoy?


Some books that are not current may be a little harder to find a home for.  If after attempting to donate them to a local organization you are not successful try contacting an organization like the Salvation Army and the Purple Heat.  They will let you know what items they accept and what the condition needs to be of each type.  They may also be able to refer you to other organization.  Some Salvation Army Stores collect household items, music, furniture, clothes, etc for thrift shoppers.  The benefit you will get, in addition to the warm and fuzzy feelings or course, you may be able to use your donation as a tax right off at the end of the year.   Check with your local tax professional for more information.  

Don’t forget to ask friends and family if they would be interested in a good read.  This is a great way for books to travel to different readers.  A “community book”, it will never always have the same home it is always being shared.  

So post pictures on your social media page and let others know what you have to offer.

5 Quick Clutter Reducing Tips You May Not Have Thought Of

We are all in a time crunch it seems these days.  With the never-ending demands on your time how do you stay ahead of the curve?  By doing a little more each day to remove clutter you save cleaning time.  Cleaning does not always need to take hours when you begin to think E.C.O.  You will be amazed how 15 minutes of straightening-up a couple times a week will make your home look and saves you time during your regular cleaning routine.

Here are some ideas to get you started on the path to being clutter free and gain more of your valuable time.  I know you have more, post them below.  We like sharing tips.

1. Pass along your subscription to publications you no longer read by calling the subscription department and change the name and address to have it delivered to someone else like a friend or family member.
2. Hang photographs on the wall to minimize tabletop clutter, preserve furniture longer, and save on cleaning time.
3. Keep a pair of scissors in the car and kitchen.  They are a huge time-saver when opening bags, cutting scallions, roadside emergencies, or opening bakery boxes tied with string.  They travel better than a knife.
4. Clean out your closet twice a year to support a local homeless shelter or friend them along. Not only will you have more closet space you may save money by adding your new-found fashions.
5. If you open and read all of your mail daily, you will save a pile up on dinner table.

Do You Know How to Disinfect Organically?

Soap and water cleaning is good at removing most germs from surfaces, properly disinfecting can effectively kill germs.  The kitchen, bathroom, and nursery area should be kept in mind.

Vinegar is the go-to product when it comes to disinfectants.  Add a little hydrogen peroxide in a dark colored spray bottle and store in a dark place and you are ready for any job.  This mixture is very effective at destroying salmonella and ecoli bacteria.

You can also mix vinegar and baking soda to in the dishwasher and this is a good way to remove streaks.

4 Professional Tips to Dusting

Never dry-dust.  Not only do dry clothes scatter dust, they can also scratch surfaces; which will eventually dull the finish. There are many natural products you can use to polish wood furniture.  So options to consider: olive, coconut, and lemon oils. To get the best results, dampen cloth with the product of your choice and: Dust from the top of furniture to the bottom. Wipe the front and edges. Follow the grain of the wood. Gather dust in the cloth to avoid spreading it. This is something that I’ve struggled with and in the past I have gone out to find resources to give me tips and tricks on keeping my home in a condition that is presentable at all times. Going to numerous websites to find small bits of information here and there and watching countless videos is definitely a pain! This book is more than just about cleaning, it’s a way to inspire women to continue to be a source of nurturing and a beacon of light that instills love wherever it goes. These are things that are ingrained in a woman’s heart and mind. You know, a present wife and/or mother is something that is not only important to have as a component to a family, but is essentially the heart of the family, or metaphorical glue that holds the family together. If you don't have the desire to be a good wife then this book probably isn't for you - you'd be more interested in some sort of specific topic or some other purpose you've invented for yourself, but for the rest of womankind, I welcome you.

I wanted to substantiate the importance of keeping the home clean and how it serves as a foundation for the rest of a wife’s work. Clearly, housekeeping is just one of the many roles in a woman’s life. You’re a Bad Wife, Because You Can’t Clean The House? focuses on maintaining each room of the house and as a consequence, how to maintain one's marriage. When I say maintain each room, I essentially mean that this book will explore how to keep tricky sections of the house clean as well as how to make it presentable. It's also important to have emergency plans for whenever someone really important comes over. For example, part of being married is that you should expect surprise drop-ins not only from your own family but your in-laws as well. This means that you should always keep certain places clean, and the best way to do this is to have a day-to-day routine. With the help of this book, you can get yourself on the track to being a better wife and making cleaning as easy as breathing.

Put down the lighter fluid and step away from the grill!

It is almost that time of year.  The smell of the grill grabs your attention and sends your taste buds into a frenzy.   Oh the smell, oh the sweet smell.  But, according to The EPA, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), are listed as dangerous pollutants that damage the ozone and the traditional charcoal grill is the worst offender.

The desire Americans have to fire up the grill each Summer, releases over 14,000 tons of VOCs into the atmosphere.  While using about 46,000 tons of lighter fluid to fire up the grill every year. So what do you do?

Put down the lighter fluid.  By minimizing and even cutting out the use of lighter fluid can greatly reduce the grilling related pollution.  Although self lighting charcoal is not much better for the air, switching to an electric charcoal starter or using a natural ignition agent like "fat wood".
